Applies To:
GWAVA 4 Netware (all builds)

Note: GWAVA 4 for Linux only uses the integrated Kaspersky AV for virus scan.  No other engines at this time are available for GWAVA 4 for Linux.

Symantec/Norton Corporate AV
NAI Netshield (Mcaffee) AV
Kaspersky AV (non-integrated)
Panda AV

Problem/Question:
-What are the setup procedures for GWAVA 4 in setting up 3rd party Anti-Virus and file locking?

Resolution:
  • Make sure that the anti-virus agent is installed, setup and functioning.
  • Open the GWAVAMAN interface by opening up a web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox). Type in the ip address of where the GWAVA 4 was installed followed by colon and port number 49282. For example: 10.1.1.1:49282.
  • Enter in the administrator user name and password and login to the GWAVAMAN configuration interface.
  • Click on Server/Scanner Management
  • Click on Server Management
  • Click on Antivirus agent setup
Note: Prior to build 80 of GWAVA 4 the Antivirus Agent setup was located within:
Server/Scanner Management
Manage Scanners
Scanner (GWIA, MTA, POA)
Scanning Configuration
Antivirus
  • Check the file locking setting and enter in the necessary information in the fields provided.  The server name, user name and password are required to provide access to file locking for the anti-virus software.
File locking is a mechanism that enforces access to a computer file for only one user or process at a time. The purpose of file locking is to allow GWAVA access to the messages in order for them to be scanned by the anti-virus and to be able to quarantine or remove the messages properly.

  •  Enter in the server and context using Full Distinguished Name (FDN). A leading period is required in order to function properly. There are 2 ways to enter in this information:

                            a. Enter leading period, server name, and the container that the server is located.  (.thisismyserver.servers)
                            b. Be more specific and enter the information in with this context:  .cn=thisismyserver.ou=servers.o=gwava

  • Proceed further to enter in the user name and password using the same context as the server. (.admin.servers)
  • Save the changes.
  • Shutdown GWAVA using 'gwavadn'
  • Shutdown GWAVAVSA using 'unload gwavavsa'
  • Start GWAVA using 'gwavaup'
