Environment

GWAVA 4 (all builds) on Netware and Linux

Situation

Cannot login to GWAVA 4 Management Console

Resolution

Here are a few things to check:

1)  Make sure that GWAVAMAN is running on the server

For NetWare, check the Gwavaman Console

For Linux, run a ./rcgwavaman status

If gwavaman is not running, shut down GWAVA and restart.  If gwavaman still does not load or loads then terminates, please call support

2)  Listener Errors?

Sometimes if there is more than one instance of GWAVAMAN loaded, you'll see errors like:  "listener failed to bind..." on the Gwavaman Console.  If this is the case, usually step 1 will resolve the issue

3)  Are your login credentials and password valid?

If you forgot your login name and/or password, please call support and we can help you recover or replace it

4)  Browser Issues?

Have you tried another browser?  Try Internet Explorer and Firefox, at least

Your browser settings could be affecting the Management Console.  Reset your browser settings back to defaults.  IE and Firefox both have a reset button

5)  Workstation-specific Problems

Try at least 3 workstations.  If you're experiencing problems outside your network, then make sure to try a workstation that is local to the GWAVA server.  Port 49282 must be open for TCP traffic within the network (and on the outside if you'd like to use your Management Console externally
